These warm cheddar cheese biscuits are real ugly delicious. They are super flaky, buttery and loaded with amazing flavor of cheddar cheese. Perfect for chilly autumn/winter days.
You can easily make a hearty, yummy meal serving the biscuits with hot soup or chili. No special equipment or technique needed, this recipe is what one calls “foolproof”.
Ingredients (makes 6-8):
- 200g All Purpose flour
- 9g baking powder
- 1/4 tsb baking soda
- 1/2-1 tsb salt
- 1/2 tbs sugar
- 145 ml cold milk
- 70g cold butter
- 100g shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tsb parsley flakes (optional)
- 1 tsb garlic powder (optional)
Instructions:
Whisk together dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt (as well as garlic powder, if you are using it). Add cubed cold butter, mix with your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Whisk in shredded cheddar and parsley flakes. Pour in cold milk, gently mix with a spatula until mixture is roughly combined or dough starts to come together.
Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface, use your hands to gently work the dough together. Do not overwork!
Roll out or pat the dough into a rectangle, fold it into thirds. Then repeat twice (Folding will make flakier biscuits, but you can skip if feeling too lazy).
Pat the dough down into a 2.5-3 cm thick rectangle, divide into 6-8 pieces. Transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, brush top with milk (extra).
Bake at 210 C for about 20-25 minutes or until biscuits are golden-brown.
Enjoy when the cheddar biscuits are hot! They are truly cheesy, flaky goodness!
