Yaki udon/ fried udon is a popular Japanese dish made of wheat noodles, vegetables and almost any type of protein(I used shrimps). It’s quick, easy and hearty. I usually just use whatever that’s left in the fridge. I just don’t feel like it is necessary to describe more about the food. Just try making it and you won’t regret.
Ingredients (Serves 1):
10pc (approx.) Shrimps
1 serving Udon
50g Onions
90g Chopped cabbage
40g Shredded carrots
10g Scallions
1tsb (approx) Oyster sauce
few drops Sesame oil
Salt, pepper to taste
Katsuobushi (optional)
Instructions:
- Heat oil (about 1/2tsb), saute sliced onions and scallions
- Add cabbage, carrots and shrimps and a dash of salt once the onions turn translucent and soft
- Saute until the ingredients are almost fully cooked
- Switch to medium-low heat. Add udon noodles (cooked) and several drops of sesame oil (so that the noodles won’t stick).
- Add oyster sauce
- Stir well, add some pepper
- Top with Katsuobushi if desire
Enjoy!
Filling, healthy and easy. Tastes like the ones at Japanese Izakayas 🙂
