If you are a burger lover like me, you probably won’t be able to resist this scrumptious crispy, healthy shrimp burger! Made of 100% real shrimps, stuffed with cheese, this shrimp burger is definitely not your average burger.
When you take a bite, abundant cheese oozes out, imagine how delightful it is! Without deep frying, the burger can still be delicious and as satisfying as real junk food. Why not treat yourself with this easy-to-make, healthier shrimp burger?
Ingredients (serves 1):
- 120 g peeled shrimps
- salt, pepper to taste
- 15 g mozzarella cheese
- Panko bread crumbs
- 1 burger bun
Instructions:
Peel and devein the shrimps. Chop until it becomes smooth shrimp “puree” (or place the shrimps in a food processor, pulse until finely ground). Add salt and pepper to taste.
Transfer shrimp puree to a piece of plastic wrap, slightly press it to form a shallow hole in the middle. Place cheese (sliced or shredded) in the hole and wrap the shrimp puree around it to form a patty (~2cm thick). Make sure cheese is completely covered.
Fully cover shrimp patty with panko bread crumbs .
Heat a greased non stick pan, cook shrimp patty over medium-low heat. Flip side once bottom side turns golden. Gently press with a spatula to help transfer heat inside.
Occasionally flip sides while cooking, remember to cook the side too. It takes about 10-15 min to fully cook a 2 cm shrimp burger, adjust time accordingly.
Serve immediately with burger bun, veggies and sauces you prefer. Will you find a shrimp burger made with 100% shrimps like this one in a restaurant? I doubt it 🙂
This healthy shrimp burger is a good source of protein. It’s pan fried instead of deep frying so you don’t have to feel guilty at all!
